A Message From Our Founder
The beginning of the year is a time for celebration and reflection. At Mind Changers, we have once again been blessed with one of the greatest gifts – the opportunity to serve youth throughout Tuscaloosa County through various in-school and after-school programs.
As I mentioned at our Fourth Annual Ties & Peals Gala, Mind Changers has experienced a 43 percent increase in the number of students we serve through our various programs. This past fall, our program coordinators and mentors were busy continuing to help students on their path to success. And most recently, we learned every Central Elementary School Mind Changers student who participates in our after-school enrichment program made A-B honor roll for the second nine weeks of the 2016-17 school year. We are making an impact!
We applaud the monumental achievements made by Mind Changers students in 2016 – all of which our nurturing, generous community helped make possible. We persist in working towards our goals to support and guide our students, improve students’ academic performance, improve interpersonal relationships between our students and their peers, teachers, other adults in their lives and family members and much more.
As we begin 2017, I am filled with optimism for the youth we serve. We are committed to addressing challenges that might slow the academic and behavioral success of our students. We will continue to seek funding support which will enable us to expand opportunities and resources for our students. Mind Changers remains a highly adaptive, learning organization that is fiercely committed to our students achieving their dreams for the future.
Thank you for your partnership with us on this journey and for all that you’ve done and that you will do to ensure Mind Changers students have every opportunity to reach their full potential. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and I look forward to the opportunities of 2017.
